Safety

Ken Leahy Construction (KLC) is committed to providing a safe workplace environment.  We have a zero tolerance drug & alcohol program.  Every new employee is required to complete a pre employment drug test and is subject to random drug testing during their duration of employment with KLC. They must also attend a safety orientation which includes a complete review of our company policies, expectations and safety handbook.  We provide each employee with the proper safety training and personal protective equipment (PPE) required to complete his or her job’s duties.

We have an established Safety Committee, comprised of field, office, management employees as well as owners of the company.  Members of our safety committee are encouraged to declare, discuss and rectify their own as well as their coworkers concerns of safety.  The combined dedication to safety of KLC’s employees ranging from management to laborers has contributed to our excellent EMR rating.

Safety committee meetings are held on a monthly basis at various locations to ensure attendance by all members ensuring maximum input.  Weekly safety meetings “tool box talks” covering a wide range of topics are conducted on each of our jobsites. All on-site personnel are required to attend.  Every employee on each site is encouraged to discuss any and all safety concerns with their supervisor prior to completing any task no matter how routine.  In our industry, no two jobsites are the same.  Each site presents its own unique set of hazards that need to be identified and addressed prior to work commencing.

KLC owns, maintains, and updates a vast array of safety equipment.  In addition, we work with many agencies and suppliers to ensure that we are kept abreast of and have the ability to implement the latest and safest types of PPE’s available on the market.

The safety of our staff as well as the many trades that we work with is the number one priority for Ken Leahy Construction on every project, every day, every second!
