4th Main
Hillsboro, Oregon
August 2012 – April 2014
A four-story mixed use project in historic downtown Hillsboro. Project includes full site development including: erosion control, site and building demolition, clearing, grubbing, stripping, full underground parking garage excavation, engineered shoring, underground utilities (storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water), asphalt & concrete paving restoration, paving, and sidewalk.
This project has reared some very challenging conditions with regards to the mass excavation. Early on in the excavation, the basement of the old United States Postal Service Office was discovered fully intact. With the diverse fleet of equipment and attachments that KLC has to offer, we were able to “switch gears”, move a machine in and tackle the unforeseen hurdle with almost no downtime. After completing the demolition of the basement, three old oil tanks were discovered in different areas of the site. Working closely with the on-site environmental consultants, the owner and the City of Hillsboro KLC has successfully continued to make progress given the challenging conditions.
